In spite of being terrified of being in Mexico (and the violence recently in Tecate), it looks like it was a wonderful trip. I, too, look forward to the recipes. We need all the inspiration we can get Great reporting Carrie! XOXO

They do - they typically have people stay for week-long trips there as a health retreat. I walked around the villas and they look heavenly!

I know this is an old post, but I had to comment on how beautiful that risotto looks! I love beets, but I can't get my family to even try them. Looks like it's more for me!!
Beautiful pics of your garden. Isn't digging new potatoes much like treasure hunting!
Enjoy the "new house"!

Congrats on the harvest! I grew potatoes for the first time and I agree, there is something exciting about digging them up being surprised that, yes, something did grow under there!

That salad sounds very good also. I'll have to try it this summer.

Katie, nothing like a homemade tomato - we've been slicing ours and eating them on crackers with basil leaves for appetizers. Mmm, makes me hungry!

Cassie - I do live in SD, but much further south than you! You're totally right - I planted the brussels in the winter, but they haven't bolted yet so I've kept them going. I'm about to pull them after a looong growing season.
