Okay, so here’s my big non-blogging excuse list:
Crazy busy work
2 week road trip on the CA coast (beautiful pictures to come!)
Sickness in the form of a cold that just wouldn’t quit
Stitches
That last one is the kicker at this point, as it’s making it super hard to type. I was all stoked this weekend on my new Fuyu knife and pleased as punch to be back in my kitchen, so I got a little too Yan Can Cook and sliced the hell out of my middle finger.
One trip to the emergency room + one doctor with an egregious display of chest hair + FIVE stitches later = bummed out Carrie.
The bonus is that emergency rooms come with the most lovely light for taking perfect Six Feet Under shots. Behold – pre-stitches…
And in a show of respect to the squeamish among you, you can find the close up post-stitches shot after the jump. Goody!
GROSS!! You were warned! I cut off a good portion of the nail, so the swingin’ doctor sewed stitches through the remaining part of the nail into the finger. I get them out in 10 days. Until then, I’ll be throwing some killer flip-offs across town. Don’t cut me off in traffic, or I’ll hit you with the Frankenstein bird!
ohmygodohmygod. yuck. you didn’t give enough “after the jump” warning. just in time for halloween… you can scare all the kiddies. sorry, car, I know that musta’ hurt. don’t DO that again!!
Whoa, that;s pretty gnarly looking! But now I really want a Fuyu knife, even though I have no idea what it is…
Hope it doesn’t sting too much as it heals, stay away from citrus fruits 🙂
Wow – thank heavens you didn’t permanently remove that finger tip – you have so much more cooking and gardening and living to do with that hand. I know it’s going to be a little while before you cook again so relax and read up on more interesting recipes to try when you’re recovered. XOXOX Mom
Just clicked on that “Yan Can Cook” link and watching him soar with that cleaver made me happy you weren’t working at his speed or with his knife. You definately would have lost a digit. Time to rejoice! XOXO
Hi Carrie..Jen just sent me your blog..guess I won’t trade my two broken bones for your finger..but it will come in handy when someone cuts in front of you…..love, Nonnie
OH yuck. I hope it was one of those good ones that bleeds a lot but doesn’t hurt. Because the knife was sharp, right? Blech. I have a matching one on my right pinkie, and my fingernail is all permanently deformed. Good conversation piece.
OMG Carrie!!!!!!!!!! Jenny sent me this on Cuz Corner!!! Wowo u did some major damage! HaHa Sucks for u! jk lol!!! Well this family is getting hurt right and left with nonnies leg and ur finger and me almost breaking my neck in cheer! Wow
